SYNOPSIS:   

This film tells the story of how acts of racism, colorism, and pride can be passed down from generation to generation in many different forms. This will be a three part series short film of three different stories titled ” Melanin Melanie”, “The Color Of Love”, and “Behind The Blue.” I am preparing to film part one titled “Melanin Melanie." "Melanin Melanie" tells the story of Melanie Hart, a wife and mother, who struggles with accepting, embracing, and loving herself due to her past trauma of being bullied because she's biracial. She tries to protect her daughter, Bailey, from experiencing the same hatred, abuse, and torment that she endured as she promotes acts of colorism. However, soon she realizes that racism comes in all forms and that she has been following the same principles as her abusers.

DEONTE' BOLDEN'S THOUGHTS:

   "The Skin I'm In" is important because even though we are going through a tough time and experiencing so much hatred in the world, I wanted to create a film that touches the surface of those issues while also bringing awareness to self- love, beauty, unity, and inspiration.
